I am pleased to write this letter in support of our children’s piano teacher, Rachel DeGreeff, who has been teaching our children for 8 years. Rachel DeGreeff is an exceptional educator – patient, knowledgeable, great with kids and genuinely passionate about music and teaching. From the very beginning, Rachel created a positive and encouraging learning environment that helped our children build confidence, discipline, and a true love for piano. Lessons are always well-structured, engaging, and tailored to our children’s individual learning style and pace. Beyond technical skills, Rachel emphasizes musical expression, good practice habits, and perseverance. We have seen remarkable progress not only in our children’s piano abilities but also in their focus and self-confidence. Our son – Adrian has completed level 6 with RCM, and our daughter – Gloria has completed level 3 with RCM. They continue to stay committed to RCM with Rachel as their teacher. Furthermore, Rachel’s communication with parents is always clear and professional, and we truly appreciate the thoughtful feedback and guidance provided after lessons. We feel very fortunate to have Rachel as our children’s piano teacher and would recommend them without hesitation to any family or institution seeking a dedicated, skilled, and inspiring music educator.

This is just a quick note to say that as well as being an excellent piano teacher, Rachel de Greeff has taught in the theory department at the VCM for about 8 years. In my capacity as Theory Coordinator, I was fortunate to be able to refer many students to Rachel over the years. Rachel teaches both group theory classes (Sound Advice Theory & Ear Training classes) as well as private theory lessons for all ages and levels (up to Harmony 9) including adult classes. Rachel’s students always do very well on their theory examinations and most importantly, they really enjoyed their lessons with her. Rachel will be a welcome addition to the BCRMTA.

I am happy to write in support of Rachel de Greeff, who has been a member of the Victoria Conservatory of Music faculty (Westhills location) for approximately ten years and who has consistently demonstrated a high standard in her teaching (I have personally observed this as she enrolls her students in our master classes regularly) and in her commitment to the total musical well-being of her students.
